Who we are
Newtown Gates & Welding is a family-run gate and welding business at Arundel Street, Wigan, WN5 9BQ. We decide how the details you send us are used, so we are responsible for looking after them. You can contact us about anything on this page atnewtowngatesandwelding@gmail.com or on 01942 238057.
What we collect
- When you ask for a quote (the quote form or the gate designer): your name, phone number, postcode, email address if you give it, what you need, any message, and the gate you designed.
- If you go ahead with a job: your address, the details of the work, dates, drawings, photos of the work and what you've paid.
- If you pay by card: SumUp tells us the payment went through. We never see your card details.
- When you call or email us: what you tell us, so we can help.
We don't ask for anything we don't need to quote for and do the work.
Why we use it
- To reply to you, arrange a free measure and give you a price. This is because you asked us to.
- To make, fit and invoice your gates, railings or other work, as part of our agreement with you.
- To keep records the law requires, such as invoices for tax.
- With your permission only: to see how people use this website (see Cookies below).
We never sell your details or use them for marketing from anyone else.
Who sees it
Our own team. We also use a small number of trusted companies to run the website and our systems. They only use your details to provide their service to us:
- Zim Digital Ltd builds and looks after our website and our staff systems, which are hosted by Microsoft in the UK.
- An AI assistant in our staff systems helps our team find and write things, such as looking up a job or reading a receipt. It runs on Microsoft's Azure AI service and may see the details on the job it's helping with, such as names, addresses and phone numbers. Microsoft may process this outside the UK. It isn't used to train AI models, and the conversations are deleted after 90 days.
- SumUp takes card payments through a secure payment link on your invoice. Your card details go straight to SumUp.
- An email service sends our emails.
- Google Analytics measures how the website is used, but only if you accept analytics cookies.
- Tawk.to runs the live chat on our website. If you chat with us, Tawk.to keeps what you type and any name or email you give, so we can reply. It may store this outside the UK.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries and quotes that don't go ahead: up to two years, in case you come back to us.
- Jobs and invoices: six years, as tax law requires.
Your rights

Changes
If we change how we use your details, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
