Gate restoration: your questions

Can't see your question? Just ask us.

How much does it cost to restore gates?

Usually around half the cost of new gates. It depends on the size of the gates and how much repair they need, so we look at them first and give you a fixed price, with no obligation.

Is it worth restoring old wrought iron gates?

Usually, yes. Solid wrought iron gates can be shot blasted back to bare metal, repaired, galvanised and powder coated, and they come back looking like new for far less than replacing them. If yours aren't worth saving, we'll tell you honestly.

Can you change the colour of my gates?

Yes. After shot blasting and galvanising, the gates are powder coated in the colour of your choice, so you can keep the colour you have or pick a new one.

Do you take the gates away and fit them back?

Yes. We remove your gates, take them to our workshop in Wigan to be refurbished, then bring them back and rehang them so they swing and close properly.

Why galvanise as well as powder coat?

Galvanising puts a zinc coating on the steel that stops rust getting a hold, and the powder coat gives a tough, even colour on top. Together they last far longer than paint.

Can you restore railings too?

Yes. We refurbish railings in the same way as gates, so the whole front of your home can match. Give us a call to talk it through.

Gates past saving?

We design, make and fit new ones too, in wrought iron or with composite infill.
